In this public program, Ryan Hawk will present a performative response to the exhibition Dean Sameshima: Public Sex, currently on view at She Works Flexible.
Ryan Hawk is a visual artist and arts organizer currently based in Austin, TX. Working through video, performance, and site-specific installation, his projects address corporeality and embodiment as they relate to art history, sexuality and the politics of desire. His work has been exhibited at: Art League Houston; Grace Exhibition Space, Brooklyn; Pioneer Works, Brooklyn; The Museum of Fine Arts, Nagoya; Difibult8r Gallery, Chicago; as well as several other venues and international performance art festivals. Most recently, he had a solo exhibition at the Umlauf Sculpture Garden and Museum as part of the UMLAUF PRIZE award in Austin, TX, and is a recipient of the (2016) Traveling Fellowship from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Ryan Hawk received his BFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and is currently a MFA candidate in studio art at the University of Texas, Austin.
